The Sunday Forum is a time to gather and discuss topics of concern and interest in our lives as Christians. Although coffee hour provides us with time for greeting each other, we are rarely able to have an in-depth conversation about our spiritual lives, our doubts, or events in our week.
We have a wealth of resources to share with one another, and the Sunday Forum gives us a chance to become better educated in the Christian faith.
SUNDAY FORUMS are held at 9:30am in Flint Hall on the second floor of the parish house. Adults and youth are invited.
September 19: "A Year in Preview" Join your clergy and vestry for an overview of our program plans for 2010-2011. September 26: “Fake Christians?” A recent CNN story discusses the growing trend in America of understanding God as “divine therapist,” and faith as a channel to “enhanced self-esteem.” How does your own experience compare to CNN’s assessment? Read the text in advance and come prepared to discuss it in a moderated forum. For the CNN story, Author: More teens becoming 'fake' Christians or pdf. October 3: "New York Stories" At the end of June, a combined group of 20 youth and adults from St. Anne’s and St. Stephen’s spent a week in New York City, working at poverty and hunger relief organizations across four of the city’s five boroughs. Come and hear what we learned about hunger, poverty and homelessness during our time away. October 10: No forum – Columbus Day Weekend October 17: "All Good Gifts" One service at 9:30am, followed by an all-parish breakfast, presentation and facilitated small group discussions about gifts we give and gifts we receive as the community of St. Anne’s. Special program for kids under ten. October 24: "Virtual Church" Email, texting, and social networking provide rapid and convenient ways for parishioners to interact with each other and with clergy. Sometimes these are highly effective, and sometimes they result in miscommunication, “over-sharing” and hurt. Join the Rev. Patrick Ward and the Rev. Kate Malin for a look at some “best practices” for communications technology in the context of church life. October 31: "News from Haiti: An Update from Partners In Health" Since last year’s devastating earthquake, Cambridge-based Partners In Health has deepened its ongoing relief work there, including the construction of a new hospital. Trinity Boston parishioner Kathryn Kempton and Episcopal seminarian Ali Lutz have each traveled repeatedly to Haiti as PIH employees, and visit us this morning to offer a fresh perspective to our ongoing discernment about relief efforts there.
